From FIFA to Sorare: Unveiling the Journey of Daan (SoEredivisie), a Rising Star in the Community

Article Photo

Introduction

Hello, I'm Daan, and I became a part of this community in late 2021. My interest initially stemmed from watching FIFA content creators like NepentheZ. However, I didn't dive into the game until early 2022 due to my limited involvement in the crypto scene, making my initial experience a bit challenging. Nowadays, the Common divisions have become more appealing to newcomers. When I share the concept with my friends, they're intrigued by the idea of playing for free and exploring its potential over a longer period. I delved into tutorials after four months, and I took my first steps by participating in the All-Star Rare.

Certainly, I encountered my fair share of mistakes in the beginning. I hastily assembled a team ready for the next game week, leading to losses because player prices were inflated at the start of every game week. Despite the rocky start, I found solace in a group chat with fellow Dutch Sorare players. We pondered over the absence of a Patreon platform dedicated to Eredivisie and a prominent Twitter account. ScoutSorare, although notable, wasn't keen on creating such an account. Two others shared our enthusiasm, and this led to the formation of the SoEredivisie Twitter and Patreon pages, now overseen by the three of us. Collaborating with more individuals has proven beneficial, given the extensive task of staying updated on news, injuries, suspensions, and transfer updates for 18 teams. This division of responsibilities allows us to cover six teams each, and while I do delve into all the teams' happenings, I focus on my six teams.

Around April or May of 2022, we initiated the launch of our SoEredivisie venture, which has now been active for almost a year and a half. The journey has been both intriguing and enjoyable. Moreover, it has greatly enriched my Sorare experience, as my knowledge of Eredivisie players has expanded. This newfound familiarity has even led to the inclusion of Eredivisie players in my gallery. Watching the competition has become more engaging and enjoyable with this enhanced perspective.

Budget Management

I initially made the mistake of not setting a specific budget when I deposited 1 or 2 ETH. This lack of a clear budget led to some early errors. I managed to reach the threshold quite quickly, which gave me a false sense of confidence, prompting me to invest in Limited and even more Rare players. However, when I assess the current value of these players, they are now practically worthless. Thankfully, I recognized this issue and it wasn't part of my original plan.

Initially, I played with the amount I had deposited for about a year. As time went on and I gained a better understanding of the game's dynamics and functionalities, I decided to deposit more funds. This decision has yielded positive results, and my overall Sorare experience has significantly improved compared to its earlier stages.

During that period, I utilized four Rare players in my gameplay strategy, as it was feasible to meet the thresholds using common players at that time.

Mistakes

It seems I joined Sorare during a period when player prices were relatively high. In hindsight, I realize that had I started four months earlier, I might have benefitted from lower prices, a choice that could be considered as my first misstep. Following my initial achievement of the first threshold, I made the decision to purchase a team comprising players involved in midweek competitions, primarily Rare players. Regrettably, this choice led me to acquire players who were overpriced due to high demand. This misjudgment was compounded by the arrival of the summer season and an influx of South American competitions. I ended up buying rare players suited for the Brazilian league without a comprehensive understanding of their potential. These players were also overvalued as the Brazilian league was on the brink of commencement, resulting in a rush of purchases by many individuals. I struggled to stay informed about their performance, leading to difficulties in consistently meeting the threshold requirements. Eventually, I sold off these players to participate in European competitions.

Undoubtedly, these decisions marked the most significant errors in my Sorare journey. Subsequently, I ventured into Limited format, but my entry point coincided with a period of price deflation, contributing to challenges in that aspect as well. Nevertheless, I have returned to focusing on Rare and U23 Rare players. I'm content with the current composition of my roster and the collection of players in my gallery.

Strategy Evolution

Presently, my engagement with Limited has evolved. I have diversified my strategy to encompass players known for their consistently high scores, which allows me to secure some rewards each game week. On the other hand, in the Rare format, I have adopted a more discerning approach. I am selective about retaining players with whom I am familiar and in whom I have genuine confidence.

In essence, Limited has become a more lighthearted pursuit, allowing me to stay connected with numerous teams and matches, providing an enjoyable and immersive experience. In contrast, Rare has become a realm where I delve into substantial knowledge and information, making informed decisions about the players I choose to retain and manage.

The players I possess who participate in Eredivisie have not only demonstrated their skills over an extended period but also hold the potential for both a successful current season and a promising future. The landscape is dynamic and continues to evolve, yet I find contentment in the under 23 players I've acquired. Additionally, I'm pleased with the selection of threshold players I've gathered, as they all actively play in Eredivisie.

I believe that Cillessen will prove to be a valuable asset for Cap 240, considering his current low scores. This presents an opportunity for his performance to potentially improve and make him a favorable choice for this division.

Now, I can enter every division in Limited and that was the goal.

I have gained a better understanding of the Belgian league, and acquiring information about it is relatively straightforward. On the other hand, gathering insights about players from regions like South Korea and Brazil can be challenging. Fortunately, having Belgian connections provides a more accessible means of monitoring competitions in that region.

Eredivisie Players Recommandations

I have a lot of players that people already know because they are the ones that can potentially score the highest.

Selling Strategy

I am inclined to retain all my current players, as I foresee their continued utility over the next six to seven years without encountering any issues.

Optimal Number Of Cards Discussion

The number of players you can include in the training facility significantly influences this decision. In the case of assembling a single Rare team, it seems prudent to have two or three viable options for each position. This principle likely extends to the Limited format as well. Given the extensive scope of my Limited gallery, the inability to enter a specific competition or game does not present a major concern.

11 players per division: 2 GKs + 3 players per position.

Number Of Clubs To Monitor

When managing a smaller gallery, it's advisable to concentrate your attention on a select number of teams. This approach allows you to keep track more effectively, particularly if local journalists frequently share player updates on platforms like Twitter. While certain teams might lack substantial coverage, focusing on teams with accessible information reduces the risk of being caught unaware, usually only learning about the situation once the game week has already commenced.

On the other hand, if you're overseeing a larger gallery with prominent players, monitoring becomes comparatively easier. High-profile players garner widespread attention, so news of injuries or developments is widely circulated. In contrast, if a lesser-known player from a smaller team sustains an injury, it might receive minimal coverage.

In essence, tailoring your approach based on the size of your gallery and the prominence of your players can significantly contribute to effective management and decision-making.

Addition Of New Sports

While I personally refrain from participating in those additional sports due to my lack of familiarity, I acknowledge the positive impact of their inclusion on the overall Sorare experience. Although I cannot provide detailed insights into specific changes, I've observed reactions from individuals on platforms like Twitter. The primary focus remains on football, with other sports receiving comparatively less attention. Moreover, the newly introduced sports are not widely followed in the Netherlands, making it a less engaging area for me and many of my friends. However, I recognize the value in expanding the platform's appeal to a broader audience, which is ultimately beneficial for the overall system.

Reflecting on my journey from the outset of Sorare to the present, the most significant lesson I've learned is the paramount importance of knowledge. In my case, my expertise lies in Eredivisie and its surrounding leagues.

Patreon And Content From SoEredivisie

Our Patreon page came to life around April-May 2022 with a primary emphasis on lineup predictions. This initiative arose because PlaySharper was not yet established, and many teams were shrouded in relative obscurity. A significant portion of the community displayed keen interest in Ajax stacks, thanks to their impressive performance during that season. Our focus extended to European matches and Dutch national team fixtures, thus positioning lineup predictions at the forefront.

During the summer, a period that yielded great success, we revamped our approach, engaging in lineup predictions for the upcoming season. We meticulously analyzed practice matches and preseason encounters to fine-tune our projections for each player across every team. This methodology allowed us to spot emerging opportunities, such as a player from Excelsior performing exceptionally well in preseason, which our Patreon members could then strategically invest in. This approach is driven by the realization that a player who didn't feature prominently in the previous season could become a star in the new season, thereby prompting a surge in value.

We also provide Cap recommendations and are preparing to release the top five players per position in the near future. Our analysis involves an in-depth assessment of preseason matches, enabling us to determine which players are entrusted with corners, free kicks, and penalty-taking duties for each team. The organizational aspect is streamlined, with each person responsible for predicting outcomes for six teams. We've developed a system utilizing Google Drive to compile and finalize our predictions before presenting them on Patreon.

While there may be room for graphical enhancements in the presentation, we've made sure that our posts are easily searchable. Readers can swiftly locate information by using the "Control + F" command on their keyboards, facilitating efficient searches for players within their galleries or those they are considering. This approach optimizes accessibility and enhances the overall user experience.

Vision For The Next 2 Years

I anticipate that my strategy will remain relatively consistent. My current focus centers on nurturing a collection of U23 players, envisioning their potential impact in the Champion Europe division a few years down the line. I'm inclined to retain my Limited players, recognizing that while their value might not be substantial, they still offer opportunities to secure prizes.

I've noticed a shift in Sorare's overall strategy, aiming to discourage excessive card sales. This approach seems vital considering the annual influx of new players and the continuous supply of cards. Implementing measures to retain cards within the ecosystem becomes essential, especially in light of upcoming features and enhanced accessibility options that could influence scoring outcomes.

I appreciate the "sell or play" rule within the game week structure, which prevents managers from selling players during active game weeks. This enhances fairness and maintains a level playing field.

In terms of developments, Sorare is making evident strides in various areas, including card prices and ETH values, as well as introducing tickets and merchandise. I believe there's substantial potential in expanding these avenues. Looking ahead, I envision a future where the top three prizes could extend beyond cards, encompassing match tickets, jerseys, and similar valuable items. This shift has the potential to further enhance the overall experience and engagement within the Sorare ecosystem over the next two years.
